Publicaciones en inglés:
* Dow Jones & Company. "Barron's".
New York: Dow Jones, v.1., 1921- Weekly.
This is a weekly newspaper which provides insight into the current thinking of the
investment community. It is a good weekly analysis of market activities. Also typically
has interviews with the major players (Peter Lynch, Mario Gabelli, etc.)
* "The Wall Street Journal". New York: Dow Jones & Co.,
Inc., v.1, 1899- 5 day daily.
Available online through Dow Jones/News Retrieval service as well as in print. This is
perhaps the most well known of the financial newspapers. It features news stories on
current
events worldwide and in business and finance. In addition to all of the expected
statistics, charts and indexes, the newspaper also features articles on the securities
markets
and investments. While it offers some interpretation of the figures presented, it is more
a source of raw data.
* MacRae, Curtice, & Company. "The Financial Times."
London: MacRae, Curtice & Co., 1888-
Published Monday through Friday and a weekend edition. This newspaper gives a broader
perspective on international curencies, foreign economies and how it affects international
trade (eg., GATT talks, Mastricht, etc.) Good discussion of major world events.
* The Economist Newspaper, Ltd. "The Economist." London: The
Economist Newspaper Ltd., v. 1- Sept. 2, 1843- Weekly.
Gives more in depth analysis of news and finance stories. It is essentially a news
magazine with a financial slant.
* The Institutional Investor. "The Institutional Investor". New
York: Institutional Investor, Inc., v. 1, Mar. 1967- Monthly.
This is a well regarded magazine which regularly covers banking, insurance, and
investments among other industries. As the name implies, it is aimed more at the
institutional investor, however, the October issue which features what they term the
"All Star Teams" of security analysts can be useful to the individual investor
in terms of determining which security analysts are the most successful by industry and at
which brokerage house they are located. This could be useful for obtaining company and/or
industry reports written by specific investment analysts.
* Investor's Business Daily. "Investor's Business Daily". Los
Angeles: Investor's Business Daily Inc., 1984- 5 Day Daily.
A very numbers oriented newspaper. Carries some news stories, but typically only if they
are financially oriented. Also offers a greater degree of interpretation and analysis of
the figures than other daily papers which, depending on one's opinion of their analysis,
could be good
or bad. They are heavily oriented toward momentum indicators.
* McGraw-Hill. "Business Week." New York: McGraw-Hill, 1929 -
Weekly.
Although Business Week does contain a standard feature entitled "Investment Figures
of the Week", these are available in many other publications. I tend to think of this
periodical as a business article magazine versus an investment magazine.
* The New York Times Company. "The New York Times." New York:
The New York Times Company, 1851 - Daily.
This is an excellent daily newspaper which has a comprehensive Business Day section. They
feature non-financial stories as well as business related news. |
